The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, tonight, December 2, participated in the launch of the first line of the power bridge to Crimea from the Krasnodar region. The event was held in the building of “Krymenergo” in Simferopol, the press service of the Kremlin said.
Earlier today it was reported that the first line of the energy grid from the Krasnodar region to Crimea was completed. The cables laid at the bottom of the Kerch Strait are allowed to take a current to for testing.
Recall that the Peninsula was left without electricity supplies from Ukraine in the middle of the night of 22nd November. The reason for this was a terrorist attack on the power lines in the Kherson region, where activists who were blockading Crimea blew up the power transmission towers.
After lengthy negotiations, the Ukrainian authorities managed to persuade the activists to leave the repairmen to restore the power lines. But the rebuilt transmission lines are not yet in use, as the activists’ blockade of Crimea have not allowed it.
Now the power system of Crimea is working in isolation, producing only the necessary requirements of Crimea’s electricity. Also on the Peninsula, the Emergencies Ministry brought in mobile generators and portable generators. In Crimea and Sevastopol, a state of emergency was declared and a schedule of emergency outage repairs was introduced.
The first phase of power bridge to Crimea should be completed in December this year. After the completion of the second phase of the bridge in may 2016, Crimea will be fully functioning with electricity.
