WATCH as the Saudi-led coalition finally reopens Yemeni port for aid

December 23, 2017 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

HUDAIDA, Yemen - Workers helped to unload humanitarian aid at Hudaida port on Friday, after the Saudi-led coalition agreed it could reopen to allow vital supplies to reach war-ridden Yemen.

The Houthi rebel-controlled port will remain open to humanitarian and commercial ships for the next month, despite ongoing violence in the region.

One port worker, Abdul Karim Ali, explained how local residents are suffering from "extreme unemployment, hunger and oppression."

"We have no power but in God", another worker, Hossam Amer said.

The Saudi-led military coalition announced on its state news agency on Wednesday that the Red Sea port of Hudaida would be reopened to allow for the arrival of food, aid and commercial fuel.

The decision follows an attack made by Houthi rebels on Riyadh, when they reportedly planned to hit the Royal Palace with a ballistic missile. The missile was intercepted by Saudi Arabia.
