The US military claims to have detained the leader of the "Islamic state", Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and brought him to one of the US military bases in Syria. This was reported by the Turkish newspaper Yeni Shafak.

According to the source of the publication in Syria, al-Baghdadi was caught in Iraq, then transported to the US base in Ras al-Ain, and then taken to another US military base in Hasake Rumailan.

In addition, the military brought seven more ISIS commanders to Syria.

The capture or death of al- Baghdadi has been reported several times in the past, however neither time was confirmed to be true. It is unknown whether Baghdadi is dead or alive.
