BREAKING: Syrian flags raised in the Kurdish-held areas of Aleppo city

December 19, 2017 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

ALEPPO, Syria - Reports have emerged that the flag of the Syrian Republic has been raised above areas in Aleppo city controlled by the Kurdish People's Protection Units militia (YPG).

This was done after an agreement was reached between Kurdish officials and the Syrian government that also allows the Syrian military and the government to operate in the districts.

For now the Syrian flag can only be raised on government buildings.

The main area in question, Sheikh Maqsood, had a pre-war population of 30,000 of mostly Kurds. The other areas include Al-Halek, Baydin, and Al-Sheikh Khadr

Before the full liberation of Aleppo, spearheaded by the Syrian Army and its allies, the district was often shelled by the same terrorist groups that the West described as moderate rebels, demonstrating further inconsistencies in their Syria policy.

The same deal is expected to be done in the Afrin canton, an enclave controlled by the Kurdish militia.
