Syrian Army, allies take 85% of ISIS' last stronghold in eastern Syria

November 19, 2017 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

DEIR EZZOR, Syria -  The Syrian Army and its allies have taken over 85% of the final stronghold of the ISIS terrorist group in eastern Syria.

The town of Albukamal has been stormed by the Syrian Army and its allies, most notably Hezbollah and Iranian organised Shi'ite militias, with over 85% of the town liberated from the terrorist organisation.

This comes as some weeks back the Syrian Army almost fully liberated the town before a rapid ISIS counteroffensive retook the gains made.

With ISIS almost fully defeated in Iraq, the full liberated of Albukamal, in Deir Ezzor countryside, would effectively reduce the once so-called Caliphate into an insurgency.
