Serbia says it is a militarily neutral country, no plans to join NATO

November 21, 2017 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

BELGRADE, Serbia - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the meeting with Russia’s upper house speaker Valentina Matviyenko on Tuesday that Serbia will not join NATO and wants to remain militarily neutral.

"Serbia will continue maintaining its position, despite the pressure on the country," the president said.

"I said about this several days ago in Brussels in NATO that Serbia was and will be a militarily neutral state," he said.

NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller said last month the alliance accepted Serbia’s decision on being militarily neutral.
