November 25, 2017 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

CARACAS, Venezuela - A Kalashnikov (or more commonly known as the AK-47) plant in Venezuela will be operating at full capacity by 2018, Venezuela’s Vice-President for Economics and Finance, Castro Soteldo, told the media on Friday.

"As far as military cooperation is concerned, we have made great progress," he said.

"One of the main joint projects our countries share is building a plant for manufacturing the world-famous Kalashnikov assault rifle. We hope that next year this plant will achieve capacity operation," said Soteldo.

He then spoke about improvements in the Venezuelan economy.

"I would say that the successes we achieved largely stem from our synergy. We understand and complement each other," he said.
