Minsk, Belarus. The Minsk-based contact group tasked with settling the conflict in Ukraine has confirmed that Ukraine and the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics are willing to exchange prisoners on the basis of approved lists. This has been announced by the Russian Federation’s envoy to the talks, Boris Gryzlov.

“Implementing the resolutions adopted earlier, the contact group confirmed the sides’ readiness to hold an exchange of prisoners on the basis of already approved lists, and has adopted a relevant statement,” Gryzlov reported.

This announcement comes on the heels of Gryzlov’s statement that Russia expects Kiev and the Donbass republics to exchange prisoners before the holiday season.

Meanwhile, Gryzlov has drawn attention to Ukrainian Armed Forces’ capture of villages in the neutral zone in Donbass, calling such “unacceptable” and a “clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.”

Denis Pushilin, the DPR's representative to the Minsk negotiations, has since announced that the contact group's session closed following this resolution, the next meeting being scheduled for December 5th.
