HASAKEH, Syria - The official Kurdish-led and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) website has published an interview article that is full of sectarian rhetoric.

The article, published in Arabic, claims that the Islamic Alawite sect are not Arabs and are "Iranians who occupy the Syrian coast."

It then also goes on to say that "Muslim men should not marry Alawite women."

Extremist elements of the Sunni sect, known as Salafis and/or Wahhabis which is also the official state religion of Saudi Arabia, considers Alawites as heretics and are not recognized as Muslims.

The article then goes on to praise Ibn Taymiyyah, a controversial medieval Sunni scholar whose teaching are the main inspiration for groups like ISIS and al-Qaeda.

The SDF, who apparently champions secularism and is completely armed and funded by the US, main spokesman Mustefa Bali also went onto retweet the article.

The article on the SDF official website is written by Egyptian writer Muhssen Awad Allah and can be found here.
