The Ministry of Communications of the DPR commented on its collection and storage of user data, which recently came under fire from the public.

"The Ministry issued a letter of recommendation to operators providing Internet services regarding the collection and storage of user credentials."- said the Ministry of Communications.

The document is dated September 21. According to its provisions, providers are advised to collect and store information about users (name, first name, patronymic, e-mail address and contact phone number), data on network access sessions and other information allowing to associate the requested IP-address with a physical or legal person.

"If law enforcement bodies address us with a certain IP address and they have suspicions that this person may be involved in any offenses - we can ask the operators and identify a person"

It was stressed that in this regard, the Ministry of Communications follows the established world practice.
