Does Russia have "Black Sea military bases" near Odessa?

    September 24 , 2017 - Fort Russ News -

The former Ukrainian drilling platforms for oil and gas in the Black Sea, that Russia inherited from the reunification of the Crimea, have now been de facto transformed into new military bases, through which Moscow closely monitors the situation, in particular, in the Odessa region.

Svetlana Neshnova, the head of the board of the Ukrainian state enterprise "Chernomorneftegaz", said this on the air on the program "The Question of National Security".

Ukrainian border guards have apparently detected the Russian military and equipment on the platforms.

"As for radar stations, which are installed there, and radio relay communication, which is there - indeed, this is new. These radars stand on the drilling rigs. One is deployed in the direction of Odessa, the other in the direction of the Crimea.

This station covers about 20 kilometers, and you can observe, monitor the surface situation that exists in the Black Sea.

I understand that that there are around 130 servicemen on the offshore fixed platforms. That is, it looks like a military base, which is in the Black Sea." said Neshnova.
