The Russian official noted that the guarantor states signed an agreement on forming a joint working group to reduce tensions in Syria, adding that the first meeting is expected to be held in the beginning of August.

He also revealed that since June 2017, at least 508 cities and towns in Syria now belong to the so-called “de-escalation zones”, with the total number of such settlements being 2043 at the moment.

Before finishing his speech, he said the Russian military jets conducted at least 2,000 sorties and carried out at least 5850 airstrikes on terrorist targets in Syria, during the last two months alone, adding that Russian forces used high-precision long-ranged weapons, with at least 10 terrorist targets being destroyed by Kalibr cruise missiles and strikes of the Tu-95MC strategic bombers.
