Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his people for their victory over Nazism in World War II, saying it will forever remain in the memory of humanity as a whole.

In a speech, held during the celebration of the 72th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany, Putin stressed the need to boost Russia’s capabilities in combating Neo-nazi terrorism, saying: "We will work with anybody who joins forces with us in our fight against of global terrorism."

Russian President also expressed his country's readiness to repel any form of aggression left and in pretty much the same fashion as it was done by the Russian soldiers during the time of the Great Patriotic War when they, although faced with a really strong enemy that badly devastated Russia, they nevertheless won as nothing can destroy Russian people's honour and pride.

For the occasion, Putin also congratulated the WW2 veterans and the people of the Russian Army, saying "This anniversary is dedicated to the memories of our parents, grandparents and all those who gave their lives and never returned from war."

For his part, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, said "the celebration of victory over Nazism in the Great Patriotic War is a real symbol of patriotism of the Russian people and shows the greatness of their spirit", adding "our victory will forever be recorded in world’s history and will always remain a symbol of true patriotism and great spirit of the Russian people who defended the freedom and independence of Europe by liberating it from the Nazis, despite facing some of the bloodiest experiences."

He then continued by saying "We bow before the greatness of the heroic deeds of the Soviet soldiers and all others who gave their lives to achieve our victory".

A huge military parade is currently being held at Red Square in the Russian capital city of Moscow, with at least 10,000 Russian soldiers of various ranks participating in the festive event. Russian Defense Ministry, however, said air force units will not take part in the parade due to bad weather conditions.

Each year, between May 8th and May 10th, the authorities in Russia organize a series of festivities to celebrate their WW2 victory over Nazism that occurred back in 1945.
