Spokesman for the Iraqi paramilitary group Al Hashd Al Shaaabi, Karim Nouri, said a significant progress which marks a turning point in operations against ISIS was achieved on Monday.

According to Nouri, the final hour for ISIS in Iraq is imminently approaching as Al Hashd Al Shaaabi is about to expand its presence at Iraqi-Syrian border.

"We managed to ease the situation for the Syrian Army in the areas around Raqqah and made significant progress at the border", Nouri was heard saying.

He also said Al Hashd Al Shaaabi is determined to destroy ISIS in Syria in coordination with the Syrian Army.

Units of Al Hashd Al Shaaabi, in cooperation with the local tribesmen, also took control over ISIS-held areas in the town of Baaj, located in the vicinity of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city.

The liberators have since managed to arrive in the village of Oum Jreis, located at the Iraqi-Syrian border and are currently patrolling the road that splits the territory of two countries. The village itself is a key strategic point that would allow further expansions and liberation of more areas.

Currently, the attempts are being made to prevent the infiltration of ISIS from both sides of the border. The operation is also supported by the Iraqi Air Force.

Liberating Oum Jreis is of great importance as it will allow Al Hashd Al Shaaabi and the Iraqi forces to expand eastwards in direction of the border and a the same time to gain more ground and expand the presence in the provinces of Nineveh and Anbar.
Besieged from different sides, ISIS will collapse quicker.

Already now, the progress made at Al Baaj further complicates things for ISIS as their supply routes in direction of Kairouan, Qahtanite and Adnaniyah, were cut.

More progress is expected to be achieved in the coming days, especially since both, Syrian and Iraqi forces, will soon meet.
