    FSB crashes weapons smuggling ring from EU and Ukraine

    Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) and Ministry of Internal Affairs have halted a large channel of contraband weapons and explosives flowing from the EU and Ukraine to Russia. During a special operation, more than 230 guns and 21 kg of explosions were seized. 

    The FSB’s statement reads: “The FSB, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, has stopped the illegal activities of a cross-regional group involved in organizing supply channels of weapons from EU countries and Ukraine to Russia.”

    The report explained that investigative operations were conducted on 54 members of the group in 24 areas of Russia. During the special operation raid, more than 230 guns, among them 18 machine guns, 43 rifles, 29 machine pistols, 45 carbines and shotguns, and 97 pistols and revolvers were seized. In addition, an aircraft cannon from the Great Patriotic War,  16,000 ammunition pieces, 15 hand fragmentation grenades, and more than 21 kg of explosives in addition to narcotics and fake permission slips for the purchase of firearms were confiscated. Overall, three clandestine workshops were closed.
