At least 26 were people killed and 40 left wounded in terrorist attacks, carried out by ISIS militants in the central Iraqi city of Tikrit. 14 police officers are said to be among the victims of the attacks that occurred earlier on Wednesday night.
According to police sources, at least 10 terrorists, 2 suicide bombers among them, were involved in the attacks.
The city of Tikrit fell in the hands of ISIS back in June 2014. The siege was notorious for the destruction of the Green Church, one of the oldest Christian churches in the world, and the historical mosque and shrine of Al Arbain.
In September 2015, however, Iraqi forces liberated the city. Since then, ISIS is carrying out occasional attacks.
