Aleppo Governor, Hussein Diab, has been visited by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Philippines, Jesus I. Yabes and the members of his delegation. The purpose of the visit was boosting the ties between the two countries.
During the session, Diab informed the Philippine delegation about the damage and destruction caused in Aleppo by the terrorist groups, before the Syrian Army restored safety and stability to the city back in December 2016. He also praised the position of the Philippine government as it remained supportive of Syria and that the country kept its embassy in Damascus running.
For his part Yabes expressed his sorrow for the damage that has devastated the city of Aleppo, but said that he has enough confidence in the people of Syria and the Aleppo that they will rebuild the city in no time.
He added that the Philippines too have a problem with terrorism that could be dealt with more international assistance.
He also expressed his wish that the relations between the two countries remain on a friendly level in future and a hope of boosting the cultural and economic ties between the two countries.
Yabes also expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Aleppo Governorate for the Philippine Consulate that operates in the province.
