Mikhail Tolstykh, better known by his nom de guerre Givi, died after a bomb exploded in his office in the separatist stronghold of Donetsk just after 6 a.m. local time on February 8.
Eastern Ukraine has seen its bloodiest period of clashes since 2015, with at least 35 deaths in little over a week. Givi's assassination follows a string of high-profile deaths in the ranks of Donbass commanders, all of which are likely to have been perpetrated by Ukrainian intelligence services and their US counterparts.
Rest in peace Commander.
