    Order of Courage awarded to advisors and paramedics killed or wounded in the shelling of Russian field hospital in Aleppo

    Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Order of Courage to Russian soldiers killed and wounded in Syria while on duty. This was reported on the Kremlin's website on Thursday, December 8th.

    Posthumously awarded:
    Colonel Ruslan Galitsky, military advisor;
    Sergeant Nadezhda Durachenko, medic;
    Sergeant Galina Mihaylova, medic; and
    Colonel Eduard Skvortsov.

    In addition, Vadim Arsentyev, chief pediatrician and professor in the pediatric faculty the Kirov Military Medical Academy, injured during the shelling of the mobile hospital in Aleppo, received the award.

    On December 7 the President instructed the Defense Ministry to present the state awards and to assist the families of the victims of war. The President stressed that the Russian soldiers "risked their lives to do their best to help the Syrian army in the fight against terrorists in order to save the lives of civilians."
