Senator Alexey Pushkov (formerly the head of the State Duma's foreign affairs committee) has offered his assessment of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s words on two radical alternatives to the Minsk Agreements.
“Poroshenko outlined two alternatives to the Minsk Agreements: a military solution and an offensive against Russia. Both alternatives are in fact false: there are no alternatives to Minsk,” the politician wrote on his Twitter.
Earlier, the Ukrainian leader stated in an interview to Ukrainian media that those advocating the abolition of Minsk 2 should propose an alternative. “There are two alternatives: a military resolution of the conflict and an open offensive on Russia,” he remarked. Poroshenko urged those calling for the abolition of the agreements to “take responsibility for future victims.”
Kiev constantly blames Moscow for interfering in Ukraine’s internal affairs, but Russia calls such accusations unacceptable. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the inter-Ukrainian conflict and is interested in Kiev overcoming the crisis.
