The head of the LPR, Igor Plotnitsky, ceremonially handed over a passport of the republic to the American mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Monson at a mass concert in Lugansk dedicated to the city’s 221st anniversary.
“A famous person has come to us, but one not famous thanks to his specific profession or his choice, but famous for his good deeds, kind and big heart, and understanding and desire to help us as a republic,” Plotnitsky remarked.
He recalled that Monson earlier had personally appealed to him with the request to obtain a passport of the republic.
“If such people want to be LPR citizens, open a school here, and train our children not only in fitness and sports, but in defending their Homeland and being victors, then such people deserve to be citizens of our republic. Therefore, today the decision has been taken to accept a new citizen of the LPR,” the LPR head stressed.
The MMA fighter said that he was happy to become a citizen of the Lugansk People’s Republic: “Thank you, Lugansk! It is my honor to be invited to the city’s anniversary. You have done so much over the past few years, you have shown great courage and solidarity with one another, and it is a great honor for me to become one of you,” Monson expressed his gratitude.
He added: “Thank you so much for making me a part of all of this and I wish you a peaceful sky over your heads.”
