Ukrainian saboteur groups have made two attempts over the past 24 hours to penetrate the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic. This was reported on Sunday at a briefing by the deputy commander of the DPR operational command, Eduard Basurin.
“Yesterday, our units prevented the penetration of two sabotage-reconassiance groups near the residential area of Krutaya Balka. The purpose of the penetration attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs was opening fire on the residential areas of the district from the DPR’s own positions on its territory,” Basurin said.
The DPR commander noted that 30 minutes before the attempt, mortar fire was opened from Yasinovataya with the aim of diverting the militia’s attention. Security forces arrived at the district within 90 minutes.
“Currently, a joint investigation is being carried out on this incident with representatives of the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE and Joint Center for Coordination and Control in order to record the results of the Ukrainian saboteurs’ breakthrough…Further shelling by the punishers and attempts to infiltrate our territory will by severely suppressed. We reserve the right to launch retaliatory strikes on the positions of Ukrainian artillery,” Basurin added.
