Despite the ceasefire in the LPR, Ukrainian saboteur-reconnaissance groups continue to operate actively. Yesterday, during rush hour traffic at the Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint, an improvised explosive device was detonated in the vicinity of the pedestrian bridge. This was reported to a correspondent of Novorossiya News Agency at a briefing today by the official representative of the LPR People’s Militia, Major Andrey Marochko.
“Yesterday, September 14th, at the Stanitsa Luganskaya entry-departure checkpoint on the side controlled by the UAF, 50 meters from the pedestrian bridge was an explosion as powerful as 5 kilograms of TNT equivalent. According to preliminary data, an artillery shell of 152 mm caliber was exploded,” he reported.
“I want to draw your attention to the fact that this incident took place at 11:30 in the morning when the civilian population most actively intersects the contact line in both directions. At the moment of the explosion at Stanitsa Luganskaya, there were around 100 citizens and a patrol of the OSCE Mission. Only by good fortune did no one suffer,” the representative of the LPR’s defense department remarked.
“Given the nature of the explosions and the type of explosive device, it can be concluded that this was the work of a UAF saboteur-reconnaissance group. This provocation was aimed at intimidating the civilian population as well as provoking the People’s Militia’s servicemen to open fire, to be followed by accusations of violating the Minsk Agreements,” Marochko added.
The major did not rule out that the device could have been set up by fighters of the volunteer battalion Right Sector based in Stanitsa Luganskaya.
