"Poroshenko: If in 2014 Ukraine had decommissioned American vehicles, then it would have had victory in its pocket"
The situation in Donbass would have developed differently if Ukraine had had modern weapons in 2014, Petro Poroshenko stated at a ceremony in the National Opera of Ukraine dedicated to the Ukrainian diaspora and the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
“Tonight, you will visit the rehearsed parade. I want to assure you all that the course of history would have been different if in spring of 2014 our army would have had a fraction of what you will see. There weren’t those vehicles and weapons which we have now. They were lying upside down and out of order, couldn’t drive and couldn’t shoot. We have done all of this in two years. Sure, our army still has a lot to get…but every day, step by step, we are strengthening our defense capacity and the main guarantor of our independence is the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Poroshenko’s official site quotes him as saying.
Over the past two years, a large number of decommissioned vehicles of the US Army were delivered to Ukraine along with weapons and ammunition from Eastern Europe left over in warehouses from the time of the Warsaw Pact.
