Starting in 2017, not only residents of Russia’s Eastern Federal District, but all Russians will be able to receive “Far Eastern hectare” land plots, Minister of Development for the Far East Alexander Galushka stated in an interview to the newspaper Izvestiya.
In addition, as of October this year, land throughout the whole region will be available, not only in the 9 districts as previously decided.
“The state has only one demand: the land should be mastered by the end of 5 years, otherwise it will be returned to the state. Those who master it will be given free ownership,” the officials’ words were quoted by the paper.
From June 1st, a law enters into force according to which Russians can obtain a free hectare of land in the Far East: in the Yakutia, Kamchatka, Primory, Khabarovsk territories, Amur, Magadan, and Sakhalin regions as well as in the Jewish Autonomous Region and Chukotka Autonomous District. The plots of land will be available for five years, after which the land can be rented or owned.
