    Sergey Shoigu Inspects Khmeimim Airbase in Syria

    Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Army General Sergey Shoigu, on behalf of President of the Russia Vladimir Putin, inspected the organization of the Russian servicemen of the military service at the Khmeimim airbase in the Syrian Arab Republic, according to the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of Russia - Major-General Igor Konashenkov.

    "In the course of his working trip, the Minister of Defence listened to the report of the commander of the Russian troops in Syria, Colonel-General Alexander Dvornikova, about the current situation, the implementation of the Russian air force's tasks on the destruction of terrorist infrastructure, as well as the results of the work of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in the Syrian Arab Republic. 

    At the Khmeimim airbase, the General of the army Sergey Shoigu  inspected the accommodation of personnel and issues of providing with all types of support, and also met with Russian pilots performing combat missions to destroy the terrorist infrastructure in Syria and military units for the protection and security of the air base. The head of the Russian military tested the combat duty at the command post of the air defense group, and also the starting positions of anti-aircraft missile system S-400, which is stationed at the air base," stated the message of the Defense Ministry.
