Savchenko Demands to Expel Russia From PACE

Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko,  speaking from the rostrum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the first time, made a number of big statements. In particular, she urged to exclude Russia from the organization.

Russia must not return to PACE, as, according to Savchenko, the Kremlin does not respect human rights. She cited herself as an example, recalling that she was detained in Russia, which already had the status of a PACE delegate, reports UNN.

"The country that promised and guaranteed security under the Budapest Memorandum after the nuclear disarmament of Ukraine has stabbed us in the back," she said.

Also, the former Ukrainian soldier accused Moscow of abducting her and Crimean Tatars.

Among other things, Savchenko said that Ukraine is allegedly safeguarding peace in Europe and is "paying for it in blood."

Note that after the annexation of Crimea to Russia in 2014, PACE deprived the Russian delegation's voting rights and participation in the governing bodies of the Assembly. In January 2015, Russia suspended its membership in the organization until the full restoration of their powers.

In early June, the head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs Alexei Pushkov said that they do not suffer without PACE and are in no hurry to return to the Assembly.
