In the demilitarized zone of Shirokino, the UAF arrested a group of sappers of the DPR which was conducting a planned de-mining of the territory in coordination with the OSCE mission. Deputy of the operational command of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, reported this to journalists today.

“On June 27th, in the residential area of Shirokino currently located in the demilitarized zone, a sapper unit of the People’s Militia of the DPR conducted a routine de-mining of the territory as agreed to by the OSCE mission. The mission informed the Ukrainian side about our sapper activities. Knowing the place and time of the operation, the Ukrainian command gave the command to open artillery fire on the area of operation,” Basurin said.

According to Basurin, the advance reconnaissance group of the 54th UAF brigade and a volunteer unit of the Ukrainian army, which is an illegal armed group that should be disbanded according to the Minsk Agreements, moved under the cover of artillery fire to capture the sappers. The total number of the group numbered 25 people.

According to the press service of the so-called “ATO,” as result of the successful operation in Shirokino, eight DPR “terrorists” were captured and three killed by return fire.
