Translated from Russian by Tom Winter

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov states that Russia has agreed with the US, and has gone from exchange of information to coordinating action to combat terrorism in Syria. According to him, the concrete terms are now being discussed by the military agencies of the two countries:

"We have agreed with our American partners, not immediately overcoming their concerns, their thoughts, and even resistance, on how to go onwards from exchanging information to coordinating in the fight against terrorism. These issues are now being considered specifically through our respective military departments."

"As you know, we have established permanent links between the Russian airbase at Hmeymim and US representatives in the Jordanian capital; there is a direct channel from Moscow to Washington. Of course, the Russian-American Center of operations reaction, located in Geneva, is at work around the clock," said Mr. Lavrov, as quoted by Interfax.

We recall, on May 17 a regular meeting of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) came to a close.* Although breakthroughs could not be reached, the meeting assured the journalists that there was movement in the main areas of negotiation: a ceasefire, political progress, and delivery of humanitarian assistance. In particular, it was agreed that humanitarian aid to the besieged Syrian city will now be airdropped.
