The head of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, has issued an official statement on the inadmissibility of a police mission entering the territory of the republic. Here is the full text of the document:
“President Poroshenko and his team should forget as soon as possible any notion that the Lugansk People’s Republic will agree to the deployment of a police mission on its territory allegedly for security purposes during local elections.
Ceasing to shell the republic, withdrawing heavy equipment, returning the occupied territories of the “gray zone”, and open and equal dialogue between the conflicting sides are the only conditions whose observation will make security in the region achievable. Deploying a third armed force will only aggravate the situation and open a springboard for endless provocations by Ukrainian punitive forces with a single goal: creating new victims of the conflict, now at the hands of the representatives of the international mission.
The arguments concerning a possible police mission are pointless in particular because Europeans have no desire or opportunity to agree to this. They are perfectly aware that Ukraine is violating the Minsk Agreements in terms of security.
The international community must increase pressure on Kiev and urge it to comply with the Minsk Agreements point by point. Let me recall that there is no word about a peacekeeping mission in Donbass in the package of measures. Turning to Kiev, I will say that he who indiscriminately sows wind reaps whirlwind. Such a storm can deprive the provocateur not only of desire, but also of all means to carry out provocations.”
