The arbitration court of Rostov region has forbidden the release of the Turkish cargo ship "Lyra", that damaged the support of construction bridge in the Kerch Strait, from the port of Taganrog, TASS reported with reference to Federal Agency of Sea and River transport.

A claim for damages has been brought to the ship owner.

"The cargo ship was arrested to ensure marine demands of "SGM-Bridge" LLC. Interim measures in the form of arrest are required for subsequent recovery of damages in a judicial procedure", — stated the court ruling.

Earlier on Wednesday it became known that the Turkish cargo ship "Lyra" was arrested. The Maritime agencies of the region reported that on March 20 in connection with the incident, the employees of the port visited the ship.

"Traces of fresh paint were found on board — tried to hide marks of collision with the pillar. The ship is detained by Maritime rules for 72 hours. It is in Taganrog. The ship is old — more than 30 years", — said the source of the Agency.

In the evening of March 19 while passing under the flag of Panama across the Kerch Strait in the Azov Sea, the cargo ship "Lyra" owned by a Turkish company Turkuaz Shipping Corp. rammed abutment No. 2. of the bridge. As a result, one of the pillars was destroyed, the other may have received hidden damage; also two lighthouse piles were destroyed.

The "Crimean bridge" info-center, meanwhile, assured that this will not affect the progress and construction deadlines of the bridge.
