A shooting took place on the Russian-Ukrainian border in Crimea on the night of 8th March. According to local media, the cause of the shooting was the inappropriate behavior of the drunk Aidar members: one of them attacked a woman at the checkpoint.

According to media reports, people in camouflaged uniforms with the insignia of the "Aidar" battalion stopped the 38-year-old resident of Simferopol at Kalanchak checkpoint. One of them, for an unknown reason, hit the woman in the face, then ripped up her Ukrainian passport. The frightened resident from Crimea asked the border guards for help. They, in turn, sent police officers to the area.

The arriving law enforcement officers tried to calm the aggressor, but he refused to calm down. Moreover, he threatened them with a gun. Police were then forced to use a service weapon; the bullets pierced both feet. The man was hospitalized.

It later emerged that the Aidar member had no documents for the bearing of arms.
