Students in the Donetsk People's Republic mostly prefer to study the Russian language, as opposed to the Ukrainian one. This was stated today by the Minister of Education and Science, Larisa Polyakova, during the governmental hour of the DPR National Council.
"In the current academic year, 6780 Russian language classes will be taught, which amounts to 97%. These classes serve 98% percent of the students. And 3% of classes – 170 — study the Ukrainian language, training 2% of pupils through their own decision," said the Minister of Education and Science.
Polyakova recalled that from the current academic year the language to be taught in schools is the student's choice.
Recall that in the Donetsk People's Republic, the Ukrainian language teachers will receive additional training that will allow them, due to the lack of demand of their former specialization, to teach the Russian language and literature.
