In Kiev, an attorney from the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine was detained, who is suspected of trying to bribe members of the tender Commission of the National anti-corruption Bureau (NABU). The Attorney was detained in the building of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev, where the suspect passed a test on knowledge of the legislation - the first stage of selection in the anti-corruption Bureau. The name of the detainee of the Bureau was not published.
"The recruitment of NABU takes place through open competition. I assure you that any attempt of bribing members of the tender commissions will receive a harsh response from the Bureau, similar to that which took place today," said the Director of the National anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnyk.
The act establishing the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine was adopted in 2014 and entered into force in January 2015. The Bureau is not included in the system of other law enforcement agencies, its Director is appointed by the President of the country. The main task of the Bureau to combat corruption among senior officials.
