The Secretary of the National Security Council and Defense of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov, said that Russia is holding exercises near the border with Ukraine and is preparing joint rebel hostilities in Donbass.
This was reported by the press service of the NSDC.
According to Turchynov, the official aim is to assess the level of readiness of senior staff to the subordinate troops (forces) in the course of their deployment, as well as the organization of interaction and use in combat of interspecific groupings of troops. According to the National Security Council, verification will include testing of specific issues to bring the troops (forces) to the highest degree of combat readiness and output units and formations in the areas of operational applications; troop transport over long (up to 3 thousand km.) distances by rail and by air; dispersal of aviation operational airfields; protection of important state and military facilities.
Turchynov noted that on February 9th, the naval search and strike group and naval strike group of the black sea fleet and the Caspian flotilla proceeded to "perform tasks to ensure a favorable operational regime in the Black and Caspian seas".
"All these military exercises were held in the vicinity of the eastern border of our country. Moreover, in the framework of a sudden a comprehensive inspection of combat readiness of the armed forces of the Russian Federation on the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, carried out by the so-called doctrine of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps. This once again proves that the occupation units are an integral part of the Russian Armed Forces. Summing up, it can be stated that the armed forces of Russia, with 1 and 2 army corps and other units of the occupying troops, deployed on a temporary uncontrolled territory of Ukraine, are actively preparing for waging aggressive warfare that is a direct threat to our country ," a terrified Turchynov said.
