Political Unrest in Kiev: Washington Uses Heavy "Artillery"

Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ
    5th February, 2016

This conflict has been brewing. It has been brewing for a long time and systemically. Local elites, frustrated with the outcome of the Maidan, began to put spokes in the wheels of American democracy, hinting at their relevance and the need for regular loyalty handouts. And this democracy strolled a "asphalt paver" on them, consistently, amicably and powerfully.
Storm clouds over Kiev have been gathering for a long time. In the fall of 2015, it was clear that fights between groups guided by President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk could not be avoided. There is too large a contradiction between them. Even the arrival of the Vice-President of USA Joe Biden was unable to affect the resolve of Ukrainian elites to play their game.

    Fathers and sons

Petro Poroshenko guides many of the old elites, who for 25 years have been fleecing their country and believe that it is their exclusive right, and that without their participation there can be no possible change in Ukraine. These are the forces that supported each of the modes of Kuchma's Ukraine before Poroshenko. They initiated a coup and the Maidan was under the strict guidance of American "friends". It was convenient to conduct a two-pronged policy and turn to curtsy to Washington and Moscow. Their money lay in the West, but the factories were working in the East. And now the time has come when the country has grown purely pro-American young shoots, and Washington decided to rely on the old elites, closely tied through their businesses to Russia. Everything that connects the two countries should be destroyed: industry, culture, kinship, etc., what they see will guarantee their future victory.
And these plans, more and more, are a contradiction with the interests of the old Ukrainian elites who really do not want to be on the dustbin of history. On the other hand, a group of people oriented to Western values  (all, including non-traditional) have grown and matured and are completely independent of Moscow. They just rob their people and amass capital, transporting it to the West. But they have no factories. And this is their main advantage. They calmly and without sentimentality allowed Ukrainian companies to be placed under the knife and absolutely will not bother to reproduce their training, keeping a low intellectual level of the masses.
On the contrary, for them, an educated person is not only not needed, it is dangerous. They are a danger to the new regime, and therefore "neither Dostoevsky nor Tolstoy" they do not need. If we pay attention, the so-called "team of Yatsenyuk" is composed of these people. He was joined by many foreigner managers installed by Washington. Yes they are reformers, but their reform is disastrous for Ukraine, which we all know.

All of 2014 and 2015, Petro Poroshenko, like an experienced apparatchik, sat in the shade as much as possible, at least for the President of the country in a civil war. The economy was left to be plundered by the new reformers, which quickly brought it to a complete breakdown. It is not surprising that most of the public negativity fell on the head of Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who's political rating quickly rolled down to zero along with his political power. Poroshenko, who had just won a round of battle with Kolomoisky, decided to use this to strengthen his power and the power of the "old guard".
Their demands were clear and logical. They are not against the brainwashing of the population of Ukraine, they would be happy to wait for the collapse of Russia and will even help with this, but they don't want to lose everything. Yes, precisely everything. They remember the case of Pavlo Lazarenko, one of the first Prime Ministers of Ukraine, very well. Having become expendable for the U.S, he was accused of pocketing public money and was imprisoned in the U.S. After many years after his release, he became poor. All his money was taken away. The truth was not told in Ukraine, and he did not return. For each member of the old elite, you can create a similar criminal case (at least in Ukraine, the United States, or even in a third country), and the people of Ukraine will have to be presented with someone's scalp. It is obvious that they will go under the knife, after being used to the max and becoming unnecessary and even dangerous to the owner.
It has forced the elites of Ukraine to forget many of the old squabbles and to unite around Poroshenko, and start to put spokes in the wheels of the American team. This is what he, the Minister of economic development and trade (economic degradation) of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius, said in his address:
"Today I have decided to resign from the post of Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. I and my team have no desire to be a cover for outright corruption or controlled by puppets for those who want the style of the old regime, to establish control over public money. I don't want to go to Davos to meet with foreign investors and partners and tell them about our successes, while behind me some issues in the interests of the individuals are being solved".
This is a demarche, not caring about resignation was obvious to everyone. It is not a coincidence that, almost immediately,  the official was supported collectively by ten of the most influential ambassadors in Ukraine:
The Ambassador of Canada in Ukraine Roman Vashchuk,

The Ambassador of Republic France in Ukraine Isabelle Dumont,
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ukraine Christoph Weil,
The Ambassador of Italy in Ukraine Fabrizio Romano,
The Ambassador of Lithuania in Ukraine Marius Yanukonis,
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine Andreas von Bekerat,
The Ambassador of Switzerland in Ukraine Guillaume Scheurer,
British Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough,
The United States Ambassador in Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt,
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jan Tombinski.

    The ultimatum

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, and his right hand in the government Arsen Avakov sounded in unison:
"The people's front faction in Parliament will not vote for the resignation of the Minister Abromavicius in the Parliament. It is necessary to build and help creators." (Arsen Avakov)
"My position is the following: we will continue to fight and work. If someone is not satisfied with one of those factions, which is represented in Parliament, they have a constitutional right to put the resolution of no confidence in the government to find a majority, and to assume full responsibility." (Arseniy Yatsenyuk)
Arseniy Yatsenyuk openly blackmailed the President by saying that he will not make concessions, and is willing to relinquish responsibility. Obviously, this is just lip-service, and such a step by "the party of Yatsenyuk", supported by ambassadors from Europe and North America was presented to the President as an ultimatum. Poroshenko and his people must abandon the desire to reformat the Cabinet of Ministers in his favor and cease to prevent the IMF in destroying Ukrainian industry, that is to take the budget that was agreed upon by the Minister of Finance of Ukraine Natalia Jaresko (another female puppet from the USA) and the Fund's mission.

    Possible consequences

There will be no resignation of the Cabinet. Probably, President Poroshenko will back off and temporarily cease to scheme against Arseniy Yatsenyuk, although a reshuffle of the Cabinet is inevitable. He is not yet ready to assume responsibility in the country. And most likely never will.
As a result of another round of Hryvna devaluation, decisions which will please the IMF will be adopted and Kiev will receive another tranche. In general, Washington will impose a temporary order on its mandated territory and it will be calm for a few months.
