"to show the horrors of the war in Donbass"
Russian article about the film translated from Russian by Tom Winter February 4, 2016
Eliseo Bertolasi, Italian correspondent and eyewitness, has worked extensively in Donbass. In collaboration with the Italian director Sarah Reginella, they have completed work on their film "Donbass Seasons."
This documentary, which traces the history of the war in the Donbass region, starting with the coup in Kiev and the Odessa tragedy.
The idea for this film was born from the desire to combine multiple videos that Eliseo Bertolasi shot in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions into one movie (most of the footage in the film was shot by Eliseo Bertolasi from Maidan to events in the Donbass, autumn, 2015). The film also includes video footage of the reporter Sergei Rulev.
The film "Donbass Seasons" includes conversations and interviews with residents, who have experienced the bitterness of war. They are only a drop in the sea of the suffering endured by the population of the region.
The purpose of the film -- to show the horrors of the war in Donbass, a war, insufficiently illuminated by the Western media.
It contains an interview with a famous writer Nikolai Lilin, with Eliseo Bertolasi, with Vauro Senesi,* a cartoonist and a famous TV presenter.
Director Sarah Reginella shows the change of seasons of the year and the flow of the life of the people in the Donbass, where, despite the suffering, people continue to live.
The film was released with subtitles in 3 languages: Russian, Italian and English.
