Ukraine has refused to buy Russian gas, who offered it at a discount, which would have cost Kiev 212 dollars per one thousand cubic meters. This was stated by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
According to the head of the government, reported by TASS, Ukraine continues to import gas from the countries of the European Union, as it is cheaper for Ukraine than Russian gas. Yatsenyuk claims that the average cost of purchasing gas in the EU is about 200 dollars for one thousand cubic meters.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine also stated that the underground gas storages of the country have about 13 billion cubic meters of natural gas. This is 2.3 billion cubic meters more than the previous year, said Yatsenyuk.
At the end of 2015 , Gazprom reported an increase in gas supplies to Europe. 20 days of December alone compared with the same period in 2014 saw exports to abroad grow by 31.9% to 9,87 billion cubic meters of gas, said the Chairman of the Board of the Russian company Alexey Miller.
