The current Ukrainian government publicly refuses to respect the Minsk agreements, according to the Director of the Center for Current Politics Alexey Chesnakov.
He commented on the words of the representative of Ukraine in the contact group on Donbass, Roman Bezsmertnyi, who previously stated that the government of Ukraine initiated the process of "Minsk 3". In addition, the Ukrainian official said that "Minsk-2" doesn't even half meet the challenges that are currently present in Ukraine and in Donbass. According to him, "Minsk-3" can lead to reform of the offices of security of the UN and the EU.
"Ukraine publicly renounced the fulfilment of the Minsk agreements. So we should regard the statement by Roman Bezsmertnyi on Donbass, that "Minsk-2", even at 50% , does not meet current issues," as a direct refusal, roughly speaking, from the undertaking of obligations", says Chesnakov.
Bezsmertnyi's statement openly sabotaged the implementation of the Minsk agreements, which were signed by the "Normandy Four" and the authorized representative of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma.
In conclusion, Chesnakov noted that "new arguments of Roman Bezsmertnyi should be subject to the public assessment of the Contact group coordinator Martin Sajdik, and the leaders of Germany and France are to ask Petro Poroshenko whether he shares the views of his representative about the futility of the Minsk agreements".
