The self-proclaimed Republic is slowly but surely reviving its land from the ruins. DPR authorities today handed over 40 sets of keys for new houses in Debaltsevo to their owners. Housing was built instead of being destroyed by shelling from the Ukrainian army.
The ceremony was held at the city hall. It was attended by the Minister of construction and housing and communal services Sergey Naumets, the acting head of city administration Alexey Granovsky, the head of Department of capital construction Ruslan Teryaev, administration staff and local residents.
"I would like to thank the residents of Debaltsevo for your patience, understanding and help, — the head of Ministry of construction addressed the meeting — "Today has come the happy day when we will be able to give you the long-awaited keys to let you in their homes to celebrate the New year".
The mayor of Debaltsevo thanked Teryaev and Naumets for help in rebuilding the city after the fighting and handed them letters of thanks. After the solemn part concluded, a concert prepared by collectives of houses of children and youth creativity followed.
In addition, the DPR authorities had restored three Kindergarten schools of the six damaged by shelling from the Ukrainian army in Debaltsevo.
"In Debaltsevo we restored three of the kindergartens, they already are at the party", — said the head of construction Department Sergey Naumets.
Naumets noted they are in the process of restoring the other three pre-school institutions, they plan to be commissioned after completion of all repair work in mid-January 2016.
Today in Debaltsevo the third preschool opened after restoration. The launch ceremony was attended by the head of the city Alexey Granovsky.
"The kindergarten school has not been in operation for two years due to the actions of the Ukrainian army. Despite the damages, we have restored and finished building. Children will be able to visit the facility immediately after the holidays," he said, via Granovsky's press service of the city hall.
According to the administration, during an active battle for the city in the winter of this year, a kindergarten school was shelled by MLRS "Grad", taking two direct hits. The shells destroyed the roof, blew out windows and damaged the ceiling.
Recall that on the 17th December, the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko handed over the keys and the documents in Debaltsevo to a new house erected under the program of the construction of 111 private households to replace war-damaged housing.
The program of construction of new houses in the Republic was around the city of Debaltsevo, Ilovaysk, Uglegorsk, Shakhtarsk and Zuhres. It was decided to build a "network" of 111 houses. In Debaltsevo, due to destroyed homes, it was planned to build 41 new buildings.
