Amid the Russian-Turkish confrontation, experts have noted the need to strengthen the Russian military base in Armenia, which borders Turkey and has no diplomatic relations with that country.

In the current situation, the deployment of s-400 in Armenia to cover the Russian military base and Armenia would not hurt, — says military expert, chief editor of the magazine "national defense" Igor Korotchenko.

"If Turkey is to escalate the situation and lead a provocative policy, one option of response may be the transfer of anti-aircraft missile systems s-400 to Armenia. This relevant decision, if necessary, will be made by the General staff of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, — Igor Korotchenko  said in an interview 'Rusarminfo'.

According to the expert, we cannot exclude the possibility of closing the Straits of the Bosporus and the Dardanelles, as well as a provocation against Armenia and the Russian military base in the country.

"Russia reserves the right to fend off threats and Turkey's aggression against Russia is using all types of modern weapons, both in general and in nuclear facilities. There are tactical nuclear weapons that could be used against groups of enemy troops in case of aggression against Russia or Russian military bases abroad",- said Korotchenko.

Igor Korotchenko also noted that, in connection with possible provocations by Turkey, there is a need to transfer to Armenia a strike aircraft in addition to the MIG-25 that is already there. Strengthening the combat readiness of our base in Armenia and the military forces of this country thing is absolutely necessary.

On the 24th of November a Turkish F-16 destroyed a Russian military aircraft over the territory of Syria, after which the Russian-Turkish relations deteriorated dramatically. Moscow has already deployed the anti-aircraft missile system s-400 in Syria to cover the actions of the Russians. The President also announced economic sanctions against Turkey, the suspension of tourist arrivals to this country, and the prohibition of importing 17 types of Turkish products.
